Your First Visit
What You Can Expect...
Before You Visit Us
Have you been thinking about trying PVUMC, but not feeling ready? We get that it can be stressful to go to a new place for the first time. If you'd like to get a feel for what our worship services are like before you come, you can watch live online every Sunday at 9:30 am during our casual service or at 11 am during the traditional service. Besides viewing live-streamed worship events, you can see past worship services, sign in, and ask questions.
And if you would like us to pray for you, just click on the "Contact Us" menu to open the page where you may send us some basic information.
When you decide to visit...
We want you to feel welcomed the second you drive onto our parking lot. All of our parking spots are clearly marked. We have designated special needs parking spots, please use these if necessary. Otherwise, you can choose to drop off your passengers under the covered drive, and then go park wherever you would like. Or, park and you can all walk in together!
For Your Kids
Walk up to the Main Entrance [glass doors] and stop by the "Welcome" table. We will introduce you to Mary Margaret Barbour, our Children's Minister, and help you walk your kids to the right room based on their ages. Our adult leaders will be so excited to meet you and your kids! We offer "Kingdom Kids" group time during both morning services, and bring the children into the sanctuary for Children's Time. Immediately afterwards, your kids head back to Kingdom Kids for enjoyable activities, learning a new Bible story or lesson each week. For the youngest we provide a clean and stimulating setting in our nursery and toddler rooms, located closest to the sanctuary entrance doors off the main lobby.
After walking in the Main Entrance, just past the "Welcome" table, you just walk straight ahead across the foyer to the wooden double doors. Before you enter the sanctuary (or afterwards) you can grab free snacks and coffee, have a seat, or just roam around and visit. We love building relationships and visiting with people before and after worship. The doors to the Sanctuary are always open, so if you'd rather go inside and find a seat, you're welcome to go right in and just relax.
Our 9:30 am worship service offers a casual friendly setting with energetic, passionate worship music led by our excellent band.
Then our 11 am worship offers a more traditional format and classic hymns, with special music led by our choir.
During worship we don't single out new guests. We do invite guests to provide some basic information on the Connect Card insert in your worship guide (bulletin). Regular participants also complete Connect Cards to share updated information, special prayer request, questions, and even special responses from their worship experiece. You can expect worship music that sets the tone and brings you close to God, times of prayer, a message from one of our pastors, inspirational stories from our members, and an offering.
WiFi - While in the building free WiFi is available to you. Just click within your smart device settings on the "PVUMC Guest" network.
Offering - Please know there is no expectation for you to give. More than anything, we want you to experience the love and presence of Jesus and take the time to get to know us as a church family. During Sunday worship services ushers pass offering plates across the rows. This an ideal time to place your Connect Card in as one passes. We consider this your gift to us, letting us get to know you so we may send you a welcome note.
Active or upset young children have a great space you may move with them, the "Cry Room," connected to the rear of the sanctuary (across from the nursery entrance). This setting has a large window looking into the sanctuary, comfortable furniture and age-level items, along with an adjoining restroom.
We hope that your experience leaves you feeling fully loved and inspired to share that love. It's important to us that we can thank you for coming to our event as a guest. Please stop by the welcome table after worship if you have any questions, or see someone with a "here to help ribbon". We would love to answer any questions you might have for us.
If you have filled out a Connect Card, you can expect contact from us within the week, in case you come up with any other questions.
We hope that you'll come back and get to know us, and more importantly, that you will find a church home where you can belong.
