As part of Methodists United in Prayer we have a sister church in La Sierra, Cuba. Folks from our church have been traveling to Cuba with increasing frequency since spring of 2004. We received a visit from our sister church pastor Damian Pacheco Diaz in February 2011. Check out our La Sierra Methodist page for information on the covenant we share with our sister church in Cuba.
Beginning in 2019 we began an additional relationship with the District of Mayabeque. La Sierra is one of 14 congregations in that district.

Faithful Servant Missions
Faithful Servant Missions seeks to improve the physical, educational and spiritual health of those whom society has forgotten. In Costa Rica, FSM operates a Christian community center that serves the Bajo Tejares district of San Ramon. Bajo Tejares is a very poor community of displaced Nicaraguans and Costa Ricans that is rife with poverty, drugs, violence, and despair. Programs serve the community by providing educational assistance to both children and adults, recreational programs, and a ministry dedicated to proclaiming God's love and grace to members of the Bajo community.
The overall vision in both Panama and Costa Rica is helping people develop a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
PVUMC has sent members to Costa Rica in since 2011. Kelly Minter, 280-5141 x304.

Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. This program of Samaritan's Purse provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on mission project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas - Jesus Christ, God's greatest gift. Along with shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in their own language.
Our church sponsors this mission by filling shoe boxes for the children each November. For more information visit http://www.samaritanspurse.org.
